Colony-Crest baseball continued its outstanding season with a doubleheader sweep versus Humboldt on May 6. Crest beat Humboldt, 10-0 and 13-3. Crest improved to 17-1. The only loss was a 7-3 defeat to Jayhawk-Linn on April 29. Crest had won the first game against J-L, 12-3.
Crest leads the Humboldt regional. Lebo/Waverly is second at 14-2, according to KSHSAA standings.
Crest has tallied double-digit runs in every game except for the loss. Overall, the Lancers have outscored teams, 259-28. Crest carries a team batting average of .367 and a .525 on-base percentage. Crest has a 2.06 earned-run average.
Sophomore Stetson Setter is hitting .500 in 56 at-bats. He has 28 hits, 27 RBI and nine doubles, all team-bests. Sophomore Avery Blaufuss has a .405 average. Sophomore Holden Barker has a .396 average, along with a Lancer-high four triples. Setter and Barker each have two homers.
Crest has two seniors: Tyson Hermreck and Stratton McGhee. Hermreck is at .377, and McGhee has a .327 average and a Lancer-best four homers. Blaufuss has an impressive 21 walks against three strikeouts. Sophomore Trevor Church is 5-0 with a 0.46 earned-run average in 11 games, along with five starts. He has three shutouts and one save. Church has delivered two no-hitters. Setter is 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA. Crest pitchers have 138 strikeouts against 65 walks in 95 innings.
Overall, 2-1A has multiple teams with zero or one loss this spring. Ellis is 14-0. Mission Valley stands at 16-0. Sedgwick is 15-1. Burden-Central is 16-0. Maur Hill (17-1) and Valley Falls (14-1) headline the Valley Falls regional.
