Parsons senior wide receiver Tanner Barcus enjoyed a breakout fall for the Vikings. Barcus entered 2020 with 25 career catches for 201 yards and a pair of scores. This year, Barcus finished with 75 catches for 1,038 yards and 13 TDs and recently picked up a Shrine Bowl nomination.
Defensively, Barcus picked off two passes and defended four. Parsons went 3-6. Barcus enjoyed 12 catches for 224 yards and a pair of scores in a 25-20 win versus Iola in Week 2. He recorded 11 catches for 146 yards and three TDs versus Columbus in Week 7. In the season finale, Barcus finished with 16 catches for 129 yards and a TD.
Barcus ranked fourth in Kansas in receiving yards, according to MaxPreps’ statistical lists. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Barcus joined Holton’s Canon Karn, Columbus’ Caleb Murillo, Topeka Hayden’s Desmond Purnell, Perry-Lecompton’s Hayden Robb, Sabetha’s Drew Schmelzle, and Girard’s Dee Wideman as the Class 3A East representatives. This marks the second straight year Parsons had a Shrine Bowl selection.
