The Frontenac Raiders football team, led by head coach Mark Smith, has earned Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week from the Southeast Kansas area after clinching a 4A-II district championship on Friday against Columbus in a 20-8 win.

The Raiders sealed the win with a big interception late in the game by Brendan Ishimura, which was followed by a 60-yard touchdown run by Jake Wilbert to extend the Raiders lead. Wilbert had two rushing touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Peyton Brown also found receiver/end Broc Ginavan for the first score of the game. The Raider defense deserves a ton of credit as they limited all-state running back Keenan Stanley to just 41 rushing yards in the contest. He was averaging close to 170 a game entering.  It marked the third year in the last four years that the Raiders have won this district match-up with Columbus.

Frontenac gets Baxter Springs this week in the final regular season district game. The Raiders have already clinched the district championship with their two district victories over Columbus on Friday and Parsons the week prior. Frontenac has now won the district back-to-back under Smith. The Raiders have now made the playoffs eight seasons in a row. Mark Smith has never not made the playoffs as the head coach since taking over in 2012. Frontenac hasn't played for a state title since 2000 (3A) and last won one in 2-1A in 1994. The Raiders are 35-27 all-time in the modern playoff era (1969-present).
