The Nex-Tech Wireless Athlete of the Month from Central Kansas selected by Sports in Kansas for their performance over the month of May is Smith Center senior athlete Kaden Meitler.
Meitler had quite the senior year at the state outdoor track and field meet in Wichita, capturing four gold medals for the Redmen in 2A. Meitler won the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, pole vault and 4 x400 relay. Meitler was a repeat state champion in the pole vault after capturing it as a junior in 2016. His career PRs are as follows Pole Vault (14'3"), 110HH (15.18), 300H (40.06). The 4x400 relay team which consisted of Logan Zabel, Meitler, David Hileman, and Jesse Staples ran a 3:27.30 to capture the 2A 4x400 title on the last event of the evening on Saturday.
