The Rainbow Communications Northeast Kansas Athlete of the Month for their coverage area is Hiawatha sophomore distance runner Elizabeth Kettler.

Kettler earns Rainbow honors after winning the 3A girls 3200 meter title for the second consecutive season. She won the race with a time of 11:50.45 after winning last year with nearly an identical time (11:49.13). Kettler won the last four consecutive races in the 3200 over her sophomore years. She is on track to become a rare four year/same event winner with two years remaining in high school. Kettler also finished as an all-state selection in the 1600 meters in 3A taking seventh place this season, one place higher than she finished last year at 8th. She is building quite the resume as she took second in 3A cross country this past fall. Kettler was also the anchor leg on the 4x800 relay squad that also included Molly Kettler, Courtney Brockhoff, and Emma Williams that took sixth in 3A this season.

Rainbow Communications would like to congratulate Kettler and her teammates on an oustanding 2017 track and field season!
