The Labette Bank Athlete of the Month from the Southeast Kansas area chosen by Sports in Kansas for their athletic success over the past month is Pittsburg High School senior Taylor Muff.
Muff, a senior forward on the girls basketball team, scored her 1,000th career point back on February 3rd against Independence. She is averaging 15.7 points per game and 7.8 rebounds as a senior in 2016-2017. She has been a two-time all-state selection in 5A from Sports in Kansas over the last two years. Muff, a Northern Colorado signee in volleyball at the Division I level, is also a multiple time state track and field champion in the 100 and 300 hurdles. As well as an all-state discus thrower and a member of several Dragon all-state relay teams over the last three years.
Muff and the Dragons, led by head coach Eric Flaton, are currently 10-6 (7-1 SEK League) on the season. PHS will be back in action on Friday against Chanute (2-13, 2-6 SEK) on the road. Labette Bank would like to congratulate Muff on her 1,000th career point and outstanding high school career so far!
Labette Bank Athlete of the Month Nomination Criteria
-Athlete (girl or boy) must play in the CNC, Pioneer, SEK, or TRL Leagues in Kansas.
-Selection will be based on the play of that athlete over the period of that month. All stats and info must be provided.
-All nominations are accepted with selection process being handled and finalized only by @sportsinkansas. Coaches are encouraged to nominate their own athletes or athletes from opposing schools.
-Nominations MUST be emailed. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org during the last seven days of the month to nominate your athlete!
