The St. Mary's Colgan Panther girls basketball team, led by head coach Abby Farabi, has been named the Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week for capturing the Tony Dubray Girls Championship in Liberal, Mo on Saturday over Bronaugh, 34-31. It marked the fourth title for the SMC girls in the last five years at the Dubray Tourney.
The Panthers grinded out three close victories in the tourney go to 3-0 on the week. In the first round SMC beat Galena 45-44, before knocking off Lockwood 57-55 in the semifinals, before the three point championship win over Bronaugh. Panther sophomore, Cathy Farmer, was named the Tony Dubray Classic MVP, for her play over the tournament. She had 51 total points in three tourney games with 19, 17, and 15 points to take home top individual honors. Aubri Piccini and Emily Paterni also had big tournaments offensively as each tallied 28 total points over three tournament games. Allie Evans also stepped up big defensively for the Panthers, averaging nine rebounds per contest, including 12 in the championship.
"Overall I thought we made a lot of improvements on both ends of the court all week. I tought we did a great job of jumping on teams early and weathering runs down the stretch. We played with a lot of intensity and several girls stepped up for us on different aspects of the game. It was a true team effort in all of our wins." Farabi said.
Colgan (6-4, 0-0 CNC) will open CNC league play this Friday against Riverton.
Craw-Kan “Your Technology Partner" and Sports in Kansas will once again be in partnership over the 2016-2017 school year to release a "Craw-Kan Team of the Week".

Nominations will be accepted from every Friday-Sunday, with the "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" being released every Monday on Sports in Kansas (Kansas-Sports.com). Teams must be nominated via email or twitter.
Teams must be from the following leagues in the Southeast Kansas area to be eligible: SEK, CNC, TRL
Craw-Kan and Sports in Kansas will also partner in releasing a "All Craw-Kan Team" for the Southeast Kansas area after postseason play has wrapped up.
