Frontenac senior Brandon Mlekus has been named the Labette Bank Athlete of the Month for the Southeast Kansas area for his achievements over the month of November.
Mlekus, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior, quarterback and defensive back had an all-state season for the Raiders for the second consecutive year in 4A-II. He rushed for over 1,000 yards and passed for over 1,000 yards while racking up 59 total touchdowns and 4,500+ yards of career offense. He also became the first Frontenac player since 2000 to earn Top 33 All-State All-Classes honors from the Topeka Capital Journal and Wichita Eagle. Mlekus was also named the 4A-II Offensive Player of the Year from Sports in Kansas, the first football player of the year honoree for the Raiders since Tildon Burns earned 2-1A Player of the Year in 1994 by the now discontinued Kansas Sports Magazine. He also earned Offensive Player of the Year from the Southeast Kansas Area by Craw-Kan.
The senior signal caller led Frontenac to a 17-5 record over the last two seasons and the Raiders went 10-1 this season with an undefeated CNC League Football Title. Mlekus is also an all-state wrestler and will wrestle at 170 pounds this year in Class 4A.
