The Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week from the Southeast Kansas area is the Girard Trojans boys and girls cross country teams for their first place finishes on Thursday at the CNC League Cross County League Meet.
The girls, who won the event at 31 points, while Frontenac took second at 36, were led by non other than senior Cailie Logue, who ranks near the best runners in the United States, as she took first with a time of 19:43. Logue has won three consecutive 4A Cross Country titles as she enters regionals this week and was twice named the Gatorade XC Athlete of the Year in Kansas. She will be shooting for a third Gatorade honor this season and ran the fastest time in a girls XC race in the nation earlier this season. Layne Karhoff and Rachel Stephens also produced big for the Trojan girls as they finished second and third in the league.
The Trojan boys were paced by senior Ryan Hughes who was the 2016 Boys CNC Champ after finishing in 18:34.18 to take top honors. Kyler Newkirk, Hunter Ulbrich and Brayden Gardner finished fourth, eighth, and ninth for GHS, who won with a score of 28 points.
Girard will be back in action this Saturday at the Class 4A regionals hosted by Burlington at the John Redmond Reservoir. 16 teams will be at the regional with the top three teams moving on to state and the top ten individuals will also be awarded state berths to the 4A State Cross Country Championships held at Wamego Country Club on October 29th.
Craw-Kan “Your Technology Partner" and Sports in Kansas will once again be in partnership over the 2016-2017 school year to release a "Craw-Kan Team of the Week".

Nominations will be accepted from every Friday-Sunday, with the "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" being released every Monday on Sports in Kansas (Kansas-Sports.com). Teams must be nominated via email or twitter.
Teams must be from the following leagues in the Southeast Kansas area to be eligible: SEK, CNC, TRL
Craw-Kan and Sports in Kansas will also partner in releasing a "All Craw-Kan Team" for the Southeast Kansas area after postseason play has wrapped up.
