The Rainbow Communications Athlete of the Month from the Northeast Kansas area for their play over the month of September is Troy High School senior Reid Greaser.

Greaser, a 6-foot, 170-pound, senior, quarterback, has been lighting up defenses in 2016, especially in the month of September. Greaser leads 2-1A in passing yardage this season with 1,462 yards after five games with 19 touchdowns to just three interceptions in leading the Trojans to a 5-0 record. Greaser yardage total in passing has him second in all classifications of Kansas this season, just behind Mill Valley (5A) junior Brady Flaming who has 1,659 passing yards. In a 13 game season, which would mean the Trojans would have to make it back to the title game, Greaser would be on pace for 3,801 yards. The state record for an 11-man from a KSHSAA school is Blake Jablonski of Wichita Collegiate with 3,884 passing yards back in 2009. Last season he helped lead the Trojans to a runner-up finish in 2-1A, the best finish in school history. His top targets include returning all-state selection Cuttar Huss, who has 26 receptions for 508 yards on the season and Brody Winder, who has stepped up big in 2016 with 25 receptions for 585 yards.

"Reid has had an exceptional first half of the season running our offense. We have relied more on the passing game this year than last. With opponents focues on passing attack, he is still completing 70 percent of his passes. His decision making has been top notch and he has been spreading it around to all of our skill guys." Troy head coach Derek Jasper said.

Everyone knows Troy has one of the most high powered passing offenses in 2-1A but the defense has also stepped up in 2016. Senior defensive end Wil Smith leads that group with 55 tackles and 5.5 sacks through the first five games.

Troy (5-0, 3-0 Twin Valley League) will be back in action this Friday as they travel to McLouth (3-2, 2-2 NEK League). Troy is currently ranked the #1 team in the 2-1A poll by Kpreps.
