The Girard boys and girls track and field teams have earned the Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week from the Southeast Kansas area after sweeping the CNC League Track and Field team titles last Thursday in Frontenac.

The Girard boys scored 167 points at the meet to take home top honors. They were led by senior Laike Damman who won three individual events (100, 200, 400) and was the anchor leg on a winning 4x400 relay for the Trojans. Drew Davied, the top high jumper in Kansas, defended his CNC crown in the event by going 6-feet-6. Jon Zimmerman of Girard also picked up a first place finish in the 3200 meters.

The Girard girls scored 172 points to win CNC title and were led by junior Cailie Logue, who won four events on the day. Logue, who has entered the 12 possible events you can enter after three years in the CNC meet, has now won all 12 league races she has entered, sweeping the rare feat of 400, 800, 1600 & 3200 meters at the same meet for the third consecutive year. Logue, the top distance runner in Kansas, is currently ranked in the top five nationally in the 1600 meters and took third last fall at the Nike Cross County Outdoor Nationals. It wasn't all Logue at the league meet though, Rachel Stephan also stepped up big as she won the 100, 200 and took runner-up to Logue in the 400. Brooke Casley doubled up in the field events with two titles in the shot put and javelin.

Girard will be back in action this week as they travel to Chanute on Friday for the Class 4A regionals.
