The Pittsburg High School girls track and field team took second place at the Jocks Nith/PSU Gorilla Relays last Friday to earn Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week honors. The Dragon girls scored 74 points coming in second to Webb City (MO), who scored 87.
PHS was led by junior Taylor Muff who picked up two individual first place finishes in the 100 hurdles (15.34) and 300 hurdles (47.05). Muff also took home a fourth place in the discus (123-04). The only other first place finisher for the Purple Dragons was junior Daeshia Turner in the 100 meters with a time of 13.10. Turner also added a second place individual finish in the 200 meters at 27.57 and a fourth place in the triple jump. Senior Ashlee Beitzinger took second in the pole vault at 10'6". The 4x400 and 4x800 relays finished third and fourth respectively.
The Dragons second place finish was a big honor as there were 32 total high schools across four different states (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma) that competed in the Jocks Nith PSU Gorilla Relays. They were the top finishing school from the state of Kansas.
Craw-Kan “Your Technology Partner" and Sports in Kansas will once again be in partnership over the 2015-2016 school year to release a "Craw-Kan Team of the Week".

Nominations will be accepted from every Friday-Sunday, with the "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" being released every Monday on Sports in Kansas (Kansas-Sports.com). Teams must be nominated via email or twitter.
Teams must be from the following leagues in the Southeast Kansas area to be eligible: SEK, CNC, TRL
Craw-Kan and Sports in Kansas will also partner in releasing a "All Craw-Kan Team" for the Southeast Kansas area after postseason play has wrapped up.
