The Rainbow Communications Athlete of the Month from the Northeast Kansas area for their play over the month of March is Jackson Heights senior Zane Richter. Richter picks up his second Rainbow NEK honor after earning athlete of the month back in January.

Richter, a 6-foot-3 senior, helped Jackson Heights to the 2A state title by averaging 23 points per game on the season. He also averaged 8.9 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. The Cobras (24-2) captured the 2A state title with a 64-55 victory over Sacred Heart at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan. Richter led Jackson Heights in the title contest with 26 points.

He has been selected as a first team all-state selection (all-classes) from Sports in Kansas and was a first team 2A selection as well. He also earned the Sports in Kansas 2A Player of the Year and his coach, Chris Brown, took home coach of the year honors.
