For the second time in three weeks, Girard boys basketball team has earned Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week honors after capturing the outright CNC league basketball title on Friday night in Riverton. Girard went on to win the match-up by a score of 60-50 in a battle of the #1 4A-II Trojans and the #2 Rams out of 3A.

Senior Drew Davied led the Trojans with 21 points in the contest as Laike Damman and Junior Lindbloom each added nine points. Girard improved its undefeated record to 19-0 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in conference play. St. Mary's Colgan fell to Galena on a last second shot Friday to give them two conference losses, clinching the outright championship for the Trojans with only one league game remaning against Baxter Springs on Tuesday.

The Girard girls, who will share co-honors this week with the boys, also clinched a share of the CNC championship with their dominating 64-28 road win over Riverton on Friday. Sydnee Crain had 17 points in the win as Jacey Murphy had 16. A Frontenac loss against Galena on Tuesday and a Trojans win over Baxer on Tuesday would give the GHS girls the outright conference crown. Girard is 17-2 on the year with an undefeated league record of 6-0 and currently ranked third in 4A-II by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. The Trojans, boys and girls, are both league champs for the first time in the same season since 2008-2009.

Senior night will be this Tuesday at home against Baxter Springs, who is also host of the same sub-state Girard will play in.
