Horton's Trey Dishon, a 6-foot-3 305 pound senior, is more known as a high school football player that has signed to play next year at Kansas State. However it's not football season and Dishon shined in Northeast Kansas this year for track and field.

The senior thrower took home two state medals from the state track and field meet this past Friday and Saturday in Wichita. Dishon's throw of 156-11 took second in 3A on Friday. His shot put throw of 50-07 took fifth on Championship Saturday in a loaded 3A field. Levi Wyrick of Caney won both the shot put (57-01) and discus (186-03) events. For his efforts he has been named the Rainbow Communications Northeast Kansas Athlete of the Month for May by Sports in Kansas.

Dishon really shined this year in football, especially on the defensive line, and turned heads in Kansas when he picked up a late offer from Kansas State back in late January. It's not often a kid from a small high school in Kansas turns the heads of one of the best football programs in the country.

"I didn't have any video on HUDL. People had to follow me on twitter to get a hold of me. The Kansas State deal all went down pretty fast. I went on a visit then within two days I committed." Dishon said.

Dishon is one of the more athletic lineman we have ever seen in Kansas. He can dunk a basketball weighing over 300 pounds and has a 4.9 40 yard dash time. He also cleans 400 pounds.

"I am just that sports kind of guy. I try to not let myself get slow when I put on the pounds. I like to stay athletic. I play all the sports." Dishon said.

Rainbow Communications congratulates Trey on a great career at Horton and best of luck to him at Kansas State this fall.
