4A-II State Tournament Field
The Lady Eagles have been dominating their opponents this season, defeating them by an average of 31 points in each win. They’re back to the State Tournament for the second consecutive year, after waiting 21 years prior to last year. They scored over 70 points a game in league play, going 10-0. They’ll look to win their first ever State Title, hoping to do so led by sophomore Katy Heger.
Jefferson West (11-11)
The Lady Tigers are a bit of a surprise after starting the season 7-7. They’ve made a massive improvement after last season when they finished just 5-16. They’re led by senior Olivia Brees and look for their first State Title on Saturday.
The Lady Titans will look to continue their success this season as the State Tournament comes upon us. They’ve had two wins over fellow State team Girard, both of those won easily by the Titans. They also have a win over 3A State Tournament team, Galena in which Columbus won both games they played them in. They’ll look for the teams first ever State Title this weekend.
Clay Center (17-5)
The Lady Tigers lost its second game of the year to 3A State Tournament team Beloit by five points in overtime. They’ve also played the undefeated Hesston Swathers who will play in the 3A State Tournament as well, and are the defending 3A State Champions. Clay Center has improved their record from last year by nine wins, and hope to win their first State Title.
The Lady Bulldogs are a well balanced team both offensively and defensively. Two of their losses have came to undefeated Paola who will be competing in the 4A-I State Tournament. Both of those losses were very close, including only a two point loss at Paola on February 6th. They’ll look to win their third State Championship in school history.
The Lady Trojans are headed to the State Tournament after a losing season last year. They’re a very balanced team, as six players have led their scoring in at least one game this season. They look to win their first State Title on Saturday.
Wichita Trinity Academy (18-4)
The Lady Knights are headed back to the State Tournament after going last year as well. They’ve rallied together and came together as a team after Shiloh Miller (2014 all state, 1st all league) tore her ACL in the first game of the season. They’re led by senior Caroline Zielke.
The Lady Panthers will compete in their ninth State Tournament in school history. This will be their first trip since 2010 when they finished second. They’re led by senior Tristen Leiszler who averages nearly 18 points a game.
