The Labette Bank Athlete of the Month chosen by Sports in Kansas for the month of February is James Brooks of the Frontenac High School boys basketball team.
Brooks, a 6-foot-1 senior, has exploded over the month of February by averaging 22 points, four rebounds, three steals, and three assists per game for the Raiders. The sharpshooting 4A-II all-state candidate has scored at least 30 points in three out of his last four games.
Brooks' recent success has helped the Raiders go on a seven game win streak since opening the season with a struggling 4-10 record. Frontenac currently sits at 11-10 and are one of the hottest teams in 4A-II.
Frontenac, led by head coach Doug Barto, will play Parsons for a berth to the 4A-II state tournament on Saturday at home.
