The Pittsburg High football team has been named this weeks "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" from the Southeast Kansas area for their 41-34 victory over Blue Valley Southwest on Friday in week eight of the football season.

"We really just played well and came together to get the win through the adversity that we faced throughout the game," Pittsburg senior running back, Alex Barnes said.

Barnes really came through for the Dragons as he rushed for 323 yards and five touchdowns on the night. The Kansas State commit now has 1,660 yards and 28 touchdowns over the first eight weeks of the season.

The deciding score in the game was a 11-yard strike from quarterback Spencer Turnbull to Dante Richardson with less than two minutes to put the Dragons on top by seven.

The win puts Pittsburg at 7-1 overall and 1-1 in district play. The Dragons will take on St. Thomas Aquinas on the road in the final regular season district game of the year on Friday. According to district scenarios from Kpreps: The Purple Dragons can get in the playoffs with a win over Aquinas or a loss by 12 or fewer points to Aquinas as long as Blue Valley Southwest beats Blue Valley West by 12 or less. Pittsburg can actually win the district with a win over the Saints and a Blue Valley Southwest win over Blue Valley West.
