This weeks Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team of the Week is the Frontenac Raider girls basketball team led by head coach Scott Fields.
The Raiders are 12-2 on the season with some very solid victories in 2019-2020 including taking third at their own tournament a couple weeks back, the highest finish by a Frontenac squad since the tourney began in 2012. The Raiders beat a school nearly five times the size in Nevada (Mo) to take third place. Recently this week the Raiders have knocked off previously 1A ranked St. Paul (46-40) and dominated 4A Parsons (76-40).
Frontenac has won five games in a row and their only two losses are to teams in Missouri (Blue Springs 6A and Adrian). If the season were to end today they would be the number one seed in their sub-state in 3A at Galena. They are also ranked #10 in 3A for the first time this season.
Raiders feature Karma Fields, who was a second team all-state selection in 3A last season by SIK and also the 3A softball player of the year. Other senior team members are Jadyn Meyer, Bria Ginavan, and Anna Hogard. The Raiders are getting a balanced effort from all four grades this season, freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.
