This weeks Craw-Kan "Your Community Technology Partner" Team(s) of the Week are the Frontenac Raider and Colgan Panther volleyball teams as each punched tickets to the 3A and 2A state tournaments this coming weekend. Colgan qualified for the 2A state tournament in Dodge City while the Raiders of Fronteanc qualified for the 3A state tournament in Hutchinson.
Frontenac (39-4) – In a matchup of two teams with 30-plus wins, Frontenac held off Riverton, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23 in the sub-state title game. Coach Cassie Rhuems has junior Reagen Hipfl (292 kills), senior Karma Fields (275 kills) and sophomore Heather Arnett (193 kills). Hipfl carries a .338 hitting percentage. Senior Bria Ginavan has 77 aces. Hipfl leads with 80 blocks. Senior Bailey Rhuems is one of the state’s statistical leaders on the back row with 529 digs (6.2 per set). The Raiders feature several of the same athletes who helped them to a 3A state softball championship over Silver Lake last spring.
Last year, Colgan entered state with an undefeated record and won its pool. However, the Panthers took an upset loss to Wabaunsee in the state semifinals, and fell to Smith Center in the third-place match. This year, coach Cathy Olpotnik has earned her 400th career victory. Junior Millie Stockard has 544 kills (5.5 per set) with a .364 average. Junior Kaitlin Crossland had 346 kills (3.5 per set) with a .324 average.
Frontenac takes on Nemaha Central at 9:30 am on Friday, Silver Lake at 11:30 am and Royal Valley at 1:30 pm in Hutchinson at the Sports Arena.
Colgan takes on Garden Plain on 4:30 pm, Smith Center at 6:30 pm and Valley Heights at 8:30 pm in Dodge City at the United Wireless Arena.
Craw-Kan “Your Technology Partner" and Sports in Kansas will once again be in partnership over the 2019-2020 school year to release a "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" for the sixth consecutive season.

Also that Craw-Kan is now in Frontenac and Pittsburg. It's also going to several other areast in Southeast Kansas”

Nominations will be accepted from every Friday-Sunday, with the "Craw-Kan Team of the Week" being released every Monday on Sports in Kansas (Kansas-Sports.com). Teams must be nominated via email or twitter.
Teams must be from the following leagues in the Southeast Kansas area to be eligible: SEK, CNC, TRL, plus Erie, Pittsburg and Parsons.
Craw-Kan and Sports in Kansas will also partner in releasing a "All Craw-Kan Team" for the Southeast Kansas area after postseason play has wrapped up.
