The Labette Bank Athlete of the Month in Southeast Kansas for their play over the last month is Frontenac junior Karma Fields.
Entering the week prior to the Colgan split, Fields was hitting .524 with a .557 on base percentage with a .952 slugging percentage. Her most impressive stat was the 41 RBI. She has also scored 26 runs.
She also has a 2.079 ERA in 67.1 innings pitched in one of the best small school softball leagues in Kansas.
Frontenac (14-6) was also the first and only team to beat Colgan as they split with the Panthers this past Monday night.. Freshman short stop Heather Arnett is also having a solid season for the Raiders in hitting over .500. Senior Madison Davis is also having a big year, as she picked up the win against Colgan, and has signed with Fort Scott Community College. Morgen Hipfl also went 3-for-3 in the win over the Panthers with an RBI. Raven Warren also picked up an RBI in game one.
The Raiders are the #1 seed in their 3A regional that starts on Monday in Galena. They will take on the eigth seed Erie (0-16). You can see the bracket here.
Labette Bank Athlete of the Month Nomination Criteria
-Athlete or Team (girl(s)or boy(s)) must play in the CNC, Pioneer, SEK, or TRL Leagues in Kansas.
-Selection will be based on the play of that athlete over the period of that month. All stats and info must be provided.
-All nominations are accepted with selection process being handled and finalized only by @sportsinkansas. Coaches are encouraged to nominate their own athletes or athletes from opposing schools.
-Nominations MUST be emailed. Please email Chet Kuplen at firstname.lastname@example.org during the last seven days of the month to nominate your athlete!
