The Labette Bank Athlete of the Month from Southeast Kansas for their performance over the last month is Oswego High School junior Jace Wilson.
Wilson has been huge in 2018 as a junior in which he has 105 carries for 876 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns. He has 17 total touchdowns on the year with 1,301 all-purpose yards. Wilson also has 51 tackles on defense with five tackles for loss and an interception. Also stepping up big defensively has been Paidon Kite, Lance Teal and Isaac elliott who are all over 50 tackles this season with Elliott leading the group with 66.
Oswego, under first year head coach Matt Fowler, is 4-1 on the season. What an improvement that the Indians have made as last season they were 1-8. The last time Oswego had at least four wins in a season was 2010.
Oswego will be back in action this week against Central Burden. Oswego, who is down to 8M-I this year from 11-man last season, has wins over Chetopa, Marmaton Valley, Altoona-Midway, and West Elk. Their lone loss was in a nailbiter to Sedan, 38-34.
Labette Bank Athlete of the Month Nomination Criteria
-Athlete or Team (girl(s)or boy(s)) must play in the CNC, Pioneer, SEK, or TRL Leagues in Kansas.
-Selection will be based on the play of that athlete over the period of that month. All stats and info must be provided.
-All nominations are accepted with selection process being handled and finalized only by @sportsinkansas. Coaches are encouraged to nominate their own athletes or athletes from opposing schools.
