The Rainbow Communications Athlete of the Month from the Northeast Kansas coverage area is Nemaha Central track and field athlete Jacy Dalinghaus.
Dalinghaus, a junior thrower for the Thunder, is one of the best overall throwers in the state of Kansas. She is near the top in the state in the shot put, discus and javelin this season. It should be no surprise as she was the state champion in the 3A discus as a sophomore last spring. This season she has reached two PRs in the discus (131-10) and javelin (147-02). Her shot put PR is 40-05.25 from last year and shes just off that mark with a season best of 39-08. Dalinghaus is a rare combo as you usualy only see athletes in only two throwing events at an elite level. 3A is also one of the toughest fields in the state this season at the state meet. Dalinghaus ranks in the top 20 in the state at all levels in the shot, while ranking third overall in the discus, and thid overall in the javelin. Her sister, Kaley, a 2017 graduate, also was a state champion thrower for the Thunder last season. NC also won the team title in 3A.
Rainbow Communications would like to wish Jacy best of luck on the remainder of her junior season!
