2018 4A-I Sports in Kansas Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Taylor Robertson, McPherson, Sr.

Robertson, an elite talent since grade school level, etched her name as arguably the best girls’ basketball player in illustrious McPherson history. An Oklahoma signee and reigning Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, Robertson capped a career with her first state title. In the championship game, Robertson scored 21 points in a 62-58 overtime win against Bishop Miege, the reigning four-time defending champions. Robertson, one of the country’s best shooters, set school marks with 1,912 points and 322 treys. She averaged 23.9 points a game this year, the first without her dad, Dave. He passed away from cancer within the last year. She is a four-time Sports in Kansas first team all-state selection. Robertson will be remembered for a long, long time as one of the best shooters in the history of Kansas high school girls basketball. Her season was an all-class player of the year caliber for just about any other year in the history of Kansas high school basketball for all-classes had Emily Ryan of Central Plains hadn't pieced together one of the best seasons in Kansas history in any year.

McPherson High School would like to congratulate Taylor Robertson, Ben Pyle, and Coach Strathman on picking up postseason player and coach of the year honors from Sports in Kansas. Congrats to all of the Bullpups for outstanding seasons in 2018!
