Rainbow Comm. Athlete of the Month: Laura Macke

The Rainbow Communications Northeast Kansas Athlete of the Month for their play over the month of December is Nemaha Central senior girls' basketball player, Laura Macke.

Macke, a 6-foot-1 forward, for the Thunder is a Kansas State signee that is ranked as high as the 53rd best wing in the nation according to ESPN HoopGurlz. After earning all-state honors last season in leading the Thunder to a fourth place finish by scoring over 15 points per game, she is topping that this season by averaging 17.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest in 2017-2018. She has NC off to a number three ranking in the latest KBCA Poll released on Monday. 

Nemaha Central went 6-0 before the break and have since went 2-1 to give them an 8-1 mark on the season. They will be back in action on Monday against Perry-Lecompton. The Thunder's only loss came to last years 4A-II state runner-up Jeff West in overtime.
