The Labette Bank Athlete of the Month from the Southeast Kansas area for their play over the month of December is Labette County High School senior guard, Javon "Magic" Reliford.
Reliford has had a great start to 2017-2018 season by averaging 23.7 points per game to rank near the top among all scorers in the state of Kansas. He is also averaging eight rebounds per contest, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies, led by head coach Brad Smith, have opened up the 2017-2018 season with a 5-1 record at break and will resume play this Friday against Pratt at home. Pratt took second in 4A-II last season. LCHS girls are also off to a hot start with a 6-0 record led by three-time all-state selection Tristan Gegg.
Labette Bank Athlete of the Month Nomination Criteria
-Athlete or Team (girl(s)or boy(s)) must play in the CNC, Pioneer, SEK, or TRL Leagues in Kansas.
-Selection will be based on the play of that athlete over the period of that month. All stats and info must be provided.
-All nominations are accepted with selection process being handled and finalized only by @sportsinkansas. Coaches are encouraged to nominate their own athletes or athletes from opposing schools.
-Nominations MUST be emailed. Please email Chet Kuplen at firstname.lastname@example.org during the last seven days of the month to nominate your athlete!
