The Rainbow Communications Athlete of the Month from their Northeast Kansas coverage area, as selected by Sports in Kansas, is Sabetha sophomore defensive back Gabe Garber.

No interception was bigger this season than that of Garber's as he picked off a Marysville pass with under 30 seconds to go in the game just outside the goaline to deny them of a state championship and give the Bluejays a 7-6 win for their first state title since 1997. Interceptions seemed to be key for the defenses success this year as they registered 24 takeaways as a unit to rank second in all-classes of Kansas. Garber had 123 tackles this year and four interceptions over his sophomore season. Can you imagine winning the title game for your team only a sophomore? Well Garber can and what a moment it was for the Bluejays.

Rainbow Communications would like to congratulate Gabe and the Sabetha Bluejays on their 2017 3A State Football Title.
